“I LIKE VALLARTA” / “ME GUSTA VALLARTA”
The innovative project “I Like Vallarta” was presented to the community of Puerto Vallarta during a press conference, on September, 2011. The proposal is an initiative of “Vallarta Centro”, a group of Hotels from Downtown Puerto Vallarta strongly committed in promoting the destination. With this objective at its core, “I Like Vallarta” will make the most out of Social Networks using the best resource the city of Puerto Vallarta has: it’s people. “I Like Vallarta” aims to generate a sense of belonging amongst the citizenship, actively turning each person in Puerto Vallarta into a Virtual Promoter of good news about the Destination.
Social Networks have evidently revolutionized the concepts of Promotion and Communications in the XXI Century, by generating a whole new level of closeness and familiarity in the relationship between the emissary and the receptor and having these two interactively exchanging roles. This is now known as Marketing 3.0
The marketing campaign, “I Like Vallarta” seeks to simultaneously provoke two effects:
1. To generate dialogue and awareness towards the inside of Puerto Vallarta to bring its people together and strengthen their sense of belonging.
2. To generate dialogue between the Vallarta local community and the rest of the world to strongly position the destination in the cyber world and increase the attention and affluence of tourists to our area.
Ma. Jose Zorrilla, a member of Vallarta Centro mentioned during the press conference: “Vallarta belongs to everyone that lives here; the responsibility of turning the eyes of the world towards our city and its wonders is a shared one. That is why the promotion efforts need to be done in conjunction. This Campaign gets us all involved, and the destination comes before any particular interests of individuals, groups or businesses.”
The Logo involves two fundamental elements: The foot on the sand as an emotional icon and the crown from the Cathedral of Guadalupe as an Institutional Icon; both very important to the people from Puerto Vallarta.
“I Like Vallarta” is already being enthusiastically received by many local companies and entrepreneurs who are starting to actively support the initiative wanting to be part of this effort.
“I like Vallarta” will be massively launched on October 7th at the Main Square of Downtown along with the re-opening of its famous boardwalk, “El Malecon” after having completed a major renovation and becoming 100% pedestrian street.

A group of hotels from Downtown Puerto Vallarta very actively engaged in promoting the charming Downtown Area, its surroundings and improving the conditions of the destination as a whole. Among many other actions, this group is responsible for the Gala Vallarta Event 2011 taking place in the heart of Downtown, being a great success. The Gala party made everyone reflect on the importance of protecting and cherishing the identity of the Downtown area, it sets the City apart from other beach destinations and it constitutes Vallarta’s main competitive advantage.
